1. Tile discolouration

Tile discolouration is a very clear indicator that a bathroom is getting old. More importantly, it can completely ruin a bathroom’s appearance. Ideally, your bathroom should look clean and pristine - tile discolouration makes this impossible. One or two discoloured tiles aren’t a serious problem. You may even be able to replace them. However, widespread discolouration is a sign that you should definitely invest in a new bathroom.

2. Rust

Rusty taps and pipework can completely undermine a bathroom’s appearance. What’s more, they can even be dangerous. If a pipe or tap is rusty on the outside, it may also be rusty on the inside. That means that the water that comes through it or out of it is likely to pick up traces of rust. You probably don’t want to risk bathing in rust, as doing so may be hazardous to your health. If you see that your pipes or taps are starting to rust, you should get a new bathroom as quickly as possible.

3. Cleaning problems

Is it getting difficult to keep your bathroom clean? If your bathroom seems to get dirty too quickly, it may be a sign that the materials it’s made from are starting to decay. If this is the case, you should replace it with a new one ASAP.
